Over the course of the semester, I worked on many paintings. Many of these paintings were very abstract. Abstract paintings are what I enjoy doing because they have a hidden meaning and you don't have to stay inside the lines. An artists who really inspired me was Karen Moehr. Moehr is an artists from Arizona who creates abstract art and abstract landscapes. She likes to do basic art and likes to bend colors so it isn't just one defined line and the colors overlap. Two pieces of mine that show how I learned from her style would be my pink sky painting and my two figures painting. Even though I was basing the two figures painting off of another artists, Moehr's style really inspired me. Contemporary art doesn't have to be clean cut and new looking. Contemporary art is just unique in whatever style you want. It can be a painting, nontraditional material, a sculpture, anything. I enjoy working with paint and making them abstract but still contemporary. When I first started doing abstract I thought it had to be just random shapes and a lot of colors but now after looking at moehr's work and other abstract contemporary artist's, I realized your work can just be blended colors in a beautiful way. I grew from looking at her works and now realize there's very little limits in what you can make and what a certain type of art is.
