The article by Olivia Gude really made me think about the importance of some art techniques and procedures. I believe that the "insignificant" exercises really are important to have. Even thought the purpose of them may not be seen right then and there, the effectivness of these exercises shoes in the artwork. In order to make artwork, you have to know the basics and how to do certain things required to make the art. Knowing what seems like insignificant details of art really makes a person think and affectivly make art. Learning the elements and principles of art lets a person create a stable base for a project. Knowing what color's importance is and what the importance of lines are allows for the artists to create depth and meaning. After reading this article, I realized how important the details are that may not seem important at the moment. Every art student should be required to learn about these principles so they can make effective art.
